She's here!

Faith was born on 18 November 2008 at 1:12 pm. She weighed 8 lbs 9 oz and was 19.5 inches long. Momma and baby both came through delivery with flying colors.

I'll post more as we have more time. We were allowed to come home Thursday night, but Faith was released with a Billi number of 15.0 which basically means she had Jaundice and that she had not gotten rid of enough of the Billi to be rid of the Jaundice on her own. So our first several days home have been both physically and emotionally draining as we have had to watch her lay on the Billirubin light and at times scream and flail her arms. This was very hard for the both of us since we were looking forward to coming home and swaddling our little girl and holding her. But, since she had to be on the light for a minimum of 15 hours a day, we have only been able to hold her for feedings. God is good though, this morning one of the nurses from the Nurse Home Care center came out and pricked Faith's heel again. We got the results back this afternoon and her number had dropped to 11.5, which in perspective is only .5 higher than what they release babies from the hospital with, without any extra treatment. We get to take Faith off of the light on Sunday morning for good and we can go about our routine the way we had planned. God is good!

Week 37

Well, we're starting week 37 today. We only have 3 more weeks until Susan's due date. Of course the Doctor has said that she may not make it until then, we'll see. We have another appointment tomorrow morning and we'll see what the doctor says then.

This weekend marked the end of the baby showers. I was thankful for all the love everyone has shown us but, I'm glad that they're over so I can focus my Saturdays on the nursery now. We have gotten the nursery at least livable. Susan and her mom did the painting of the room and the wall border while I was at work. I got to paint the closet doors and put the crib together. I still have to paint the bedroom door, but that's not a priority as Faith will not be in need of a door right off the bat. Now, I'm working on getting the wardrobe stained and finished while I wait on the dresser/changing table and the glider to arrive so I can assemble those and finish organizing the nursery.

Well, these are some of the pictures of the nursery and the pumpkin was a center piece for the baby shower that was thrown for us on November 1st by Susan's sister-in-law Dana. We thought it was funny. We'll keep everyone posted on how things are going. Love you all.

Week 35 and 36

Sorry we haven't done this sooner, but man we've tired and worn out lately. I'm close to getting the doors completely finished and getting them hung back up. The next thing I need to do is get all the furniture and put it together and get it put in the room. It's no easy task when you have only an hour or two in evenings when you come home from work.

Week 36 marks the last week of work for Susan. I think even working this week is pushing it, but she does what she can handle, sometimes. Often I have to tell her to back off and relax before she hurts herself by doing too much.

Unfortunatley this post is short, there's so many things that are going on and not enough time to tell it all. I'll try to get pictures of the room up soon. Just keep praying for a safe last few weeks and hopefully Faith will be here before we know it, Susan's hoping for before Thanksgiving.

Week 34

Hey everybody! What a wild week this has been. Wed. and Fri. mom(Nancy) came out to help me paint the nursery. We got that finished and it looks great! She was such a help. James is doing the doors and he is going to stencil some flowers. He is so good, he's going to be a great daddy!

We had two baby showers this weekend. Some friends from the church I grew up in and then the church we attend now. They were wonderful. You really feel loved at these things, people can just be so giving it's unbelievable. It's been a terrific weekend filled with friends and lots of love, but we are absolutely worn out.


This cake is diapers, it was soo cute. Too bad they won't be after Faith gets a hold of them!

Well we had a great weekend hope all ya'll did too.

Week 33

Well, there's only 7 more weeks left until our due date. It's such an exciting time right now. I've been struggling with trying to find the time to get the nursery together. It seems that there is never enough hours in the day to get things done. Between work and trying to spend some quality time with Susan I can never find the time to get all the extra things moved out of the nursery so I can get it prepped for painting. But that all changed yesterday as I was finally able to get the room prepped and we even got the paint to start painting.

Yesterday we also took some maternity pictures. Our Pastor's wife is a photographer and we enlisted her to take pictures of Susan's belly. We have actually already been able to start proofing them online tonight, but I am unable to post any on here just yet. Hopefully we'll be able to post them here next week.

Susan seems to be feeling good, of course she has just recently started to feel the full physical pains of being pregnant such as cramps and muscle aches. I even needed to wheel her around Wal-Mart yesterday after we took the pictures because she was so tired, but we really needed to get things done. She's a real trooper sometimes.

I've been able to finally feel Faith kick and hiccup here in the past week. Of course Susan has been able to do so for weeks now. It's so cool to feel the life that you helped to create move around in your wife's belly and even see it sometimes.

Guys and gals, sorry this was put up so late but we really needed a nap this afternoon before we went back to church this evening and therefore wasn't able to get this done til now. Hope to have more to post next week as well as some pictures. Love you all and keep in touch.
